Things To Consider - How Will You Travel With Baby?

The first thing to take into consideration is how you are intending to travel with your baby? 

1. Will you be using your car a lot?

2. Do you intend walking or jogging everywhere?

3. Do you have more than one infant?

4. Will you be using a combination of the above?

All this needs to be taken into consideration when choosing your stroller as you don't ant to make an expensive mistake.

This is the reason why baby travel systems are so popular, simply because they are very versatile and combine a number of tasks.

However, a travel system will not be much use if you're a sporty person and like to run several times a week.  In this case you will be looking at and comparing sturdy jogging strollers.

Safety First!

Now you have decided on the type of stroller needed, you need to look into a few safety features on your chosen pushchair.

Types of harnesses.

This is a given necessary and all strollers come equipped with them.  However there are two different types of harness. 

For example, a seat belt in a jogger is normally different to that of a normal stroller.  Jogging strollers usually have a 5-point harness (with the additional centre clip) which are the the norm. 

However in some cheaper strollers you could expect to find the T-shields which lack the centre chest clip.

Putting on those brakes.

The second safety feature is the braking system on the pushchair.  There are two kinds:

#1  The first is that similar to a bike's brake which in which you have to hold down with your hands whilst pushing baby and as soon as the bar is released, then the pushchair stops.

This is a great safety feature whilst walking down steep banks for example.  I know you could never imagine actually leaving loose of the buggy handles, but you never know, and this specific feature puts your mind at ease.

#2  The second type of break is the parking brake.  These are normally featured as a leaver beside the wheels.  Some advanced baby strollers have the function where the leave has three stages:

• Where the wheels can easily go round corners;

• Second stage is were the wheels can only go in a straight line; and

• Thirdly, is the actual break itself where the wheels are clamped still.

So be sure to check the brakes if you would like and find handy all three stages.

How strong you are.

How light or heavy is the baby stroller?  Although some people don't want to take this into consideration, I believe that you should.  This is especially so if you are folding and putting the stroller in the boot of a car.

The weight is mainly in the wheels and frame, therefore you should look at frames made of aluminium, titan or carbon. It depends on your budget as to which you choose with aluminium being the cheapest, but all three are ideal for lightweight pushchairs.
